The good news is that CMS and the RAC contractors continue to update the Provider Outreach schedule as we originally reported on April 24th. The bad news is that, as we originally reported, there have been no new sessions posted that are inclusive of non-hospital or non-physician providers. For those providers in Texas all the scheduled sessions for May have been cancelled due to the impending threat of the flu situation. The Texas Hospital Association is planning to post a recoding of an information session (including handouts) by CMS and Connolly and Associates, the RAC contractor for Texas providers.
Due to the efforts of the California Hospital Association, there will be two sessions in Los Angeles sponsored by CHA and held at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. The original California Provider Outreach schedule called only for Provider Outreach Meetings in San Francisco, with extremely limited capacity (which was filled in 24 hours). Kudos to the CHA for also hosting home health agencies, DME suppliers, and SNFs at their meetings on May 11th.
For outpatient rehab providers, including rehab agencies, CORFs, and private practice physical and occupational therapists, there are challenges in being subject to this Recovery Audit Contractor process, without having the opportunity to partipcate in the process as designed in the program. Stay tuned.
