OIG Compliance Program Guidance
The "voluntary" implementation of compliance programs was "mandated" in the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 (BBA). The OIG has issued "compliance program guidances" (CPG) since 1998, starting with hospitals.  A CPG for Physicians and Small Practices was issued in 2000.  Within that CPG the OIG suggested that is was suitable as a basis for the impletion of a compliance program for other small practices, including physical therapy.  While the various CPGs that the OIG has implemented since 1998 have not all been updated, and compliance laws have changed over time, the CPG is still a suitable . . .
