Upcoming Seminars & Webinars
Monitor Monday is a weekly live podcast on the topic of the Medicare Recovery Audit Contractor (RACs). The podcase (recorded each week in case you missed the live version) started in January, 2010 and provides up to date information on the activities in the RAC regions, including summaries of CMS approved issues, tips on responding to medical records requests, submitting appeals, and analyzing potential risks. Join cohosts Chuck Buck and Nancy Beckley along with special weekly guests, including CMS and the OIG to keep abreast of RAC issues.
Join me in the webinar hosted by RACMonitor: The Office of Inspector General (OIG) is hot on the trail of therapy providers, as are other CMS contractors. Therapy is under medical necessity reviews by the RACs and MACs and regulatory reviews by the OIG, ZPICS and other medical review authorities. And here’s the flashpoint: 8,000 physical therapists received comparative billing reports in November, and several more audit reports have been published by the OIG!
So here’s a simple question with dire consequences: Could your therapy notes pass an OIG audit? In most cases, probably not. Little wonder therapy providers are under siege.
Hospital outpatient therapy programs as well as private practice therapy receive high error rates in medical review and other program audits because of a failure to understand the rules for documenting and billing. Now, as never before, therapy providers need to know how to detect, correct and prevent errors that can lead to improper payment. This presentation will update therapy regulations for 2015 and offer tips into establishing auditing and monitoring programs to mitigate risk in 2016.
